After our meeting this week as to what we will be showing on Friday we came to the conclusion that we will be showing a first draft of our oppening scene, which will include a human puppet, leading into a first draft of our second scene entitled, ‘Sentiment is a creature of fashion, lust is eternal’! The draft of the second scene will include a creature (as pointed out by the title) and will also have an initial idea of a sound poem with an included soundscape.
The opening scene will contain the following speech from the puppet:
To those woman who only think what I have dared to say;
to those for whom lust is nothing but a sin.
To all those who in lust can only see vice, just as in pride they only see vanity…
…There is no victory to be had from villanizing your aesthetic-superiors. Your masters.
To those woman, we see through your slave-morality, it’s transparent.
The envy and jealousy you exude stands testament only to your own unsightliness.
An unsightliness that you extract from your social qualms and standards. Beauty has no brand names.
Modern day promiscuity is the kindling that ignites lust and burns away ones superficial farce. We all look better naked.
Yes! We hear you shout- ‘slut’ or ‘whore’- but, enviously… desperately trying to twist desire & beauty into moral hatred in the hope that you will emerge socially virtuous… that makes you society’s bitch.
Hopefully these two initial ideas will give a good indication as to what our whole piece will be like.
Uomini Matti: Del Futuro
Lust is a force……It is Superior
Hello everybody. We have now come to a conclusion on which manifesto we will be using as a basis for our performance. We discussed two or three manifestos but have decided to use Valentine de Saint-Pointe’s manifesto entitled, ‘A Futurist Manifesto of lust’.
Valentine de Saint-Pointe was the the first futurist women to write a manifesto and was one of very few women to be part of the futurist movement. ‘A futurist Manifesto of Lust’ deals with the ideas of embracing lust and destroying the idea of sentimentality and romance. Her points in the manifesto are stark and aggressive, in keeping with the futurist movement. She calls for the destruction of romance and sentimentality and calls for the embrace of desire and yearning for another human being. Our performance will be called ‘Lust is a force…..it is superior’, and it will focus heavily on the idea of the destruction of Love and Romance. We have come to a decision that our performance will be structured in the form of four separate scenes, each starting with a statement from the manifesto. The four scenes will be as follows:
- ‘The victor always turns to rape in the conquered land’!
- ‘Sentiment is a creature of fashion, lust is eternal’!
- ‘Physical modesty, has only the value of social virtue’!
- ‘We Must stop despising desire’!
We have arranged some ideas for the first two scenes but are still in the process of forming scenes three and four. Once we have come to a decision as to how the scenes will be performed will post them on here.
Uomini Matti: Del Futuro
We are ‘Uomini Matti: Del futuro’! Translated to English this means, ‘Mad Men: Of the future’! This is the blog that our group will use to describe the process in completing our final performance for the module art, music and performance. The members of the group are:

We still haven’t come to a conclusion as to which manifesto we will be using as a basis for our performance, although we are looking more towards a visual arts based manifesto. In time we will also post a manifesto of our own on here which will hopefully give you some ideas and clues as to what our performance will be like. We will also add any developments in our ideas on here and use as much media as possible to explain these ideas.
